Peak District Information

The Peak District is an area of outstanding natural beauty and it is easy to see why people move to the area every day in an effort to find a newer, stress free lifestyle and surround themselves in stunning scenery. Scenery aside the Peak District contains a wealth of activities to take part in, from extreme sports to more sedate village oriented fetes and festivals. The community feel still exists in many towns and villages in the Peak District and this is something that people strive to be a part of, and a major draw that attracts people to the area. It is easy to see why the Peak District is so popular with tourists throughout the year, with people flocking from the surrounding counties every day to experience the beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. There is no doubting that moving to the Peak District will give you and your family having a healthier lifestyle.

The Peak District National Park itself covers 555 square miles or Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and South and West Yorkshire. The Peak District boundaries were originally drawn up to deliberately exclude large built up and urban areas and industrial sites however numerous towns and villages exist within the park boundaries along with the western edge of Sheffield. The area is the fourth largest National Park in England and Wales. The Peak District itself contains very interesting geology and landscapes, with the gritstone and shale of the Dark area supporting heather moorland and blanket bog with rough sheep pasture and grouse shooting at certain times of the year. The White area is more intensively farmed and supports dairy pastures thanks to the limestone plateaus.
