The City of Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District is built near the confluence of five rivers, and much of it is built on hillsides with views either into the city centre or out onto the countryside. Although a city, Sheffield is often called The Largest Village in England  - it is estimated that Sheffield has over two million trees, more per person than any other city in Europe; 61% of the city is green space. Much of the economy of the area was based on the famous Sheffield steel, which caused the city to contract radically when it collapsed. However, the last few years have seen huge growth in the city and with several further education colleges and a University there is a thriving young population and a bustling city centre. There are leafy suburbs which give way to rolling countryside making Sheffield a great choice as a place to live and work.
