The ancient village of Youlgreave (or Youlgrave as it is locally spelled) sprawls along the ridge of a south facing hillside above Bradford Dale deep in the heart of the scenic White Peak area of the Peak District National Park. It is also close to Lathkill Dale and its access to leafy valleys makes it one of the best areas for walking in the county. The village boasts a Norman church, some fine Georgian houses and a 17th century manor house, said to be haunted. Although quite remote and surrounded by small Peak District villages Youlgrave is set about equidistant between Chesterfield and Buxton with plenty of amenities.
